🌽URGENT: SNAP Shutdown Impact & How You Can Help 🌽
As many of you know, the U.S. government shutdown began on October 1, 2025. Because federal agencies don’t currently have funding, the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance has warned that over 1 million SNAP recipients may lose or see delays in their monthly food benefits starting November 1. At the same time, recently-passed federal legislation will create further hardship across Massachusetts over the next year with respect to SNAP benefits:
Here in Westwood, our Food Pantry serves over 75 households each month, plus 30 home deliveries for those unable to visit.
We expect a sharp increase in need as SNAP benefits are disrupted.
The Westwood Food Pantry receives no town funding, so we’re turning to our community for help.
Here’s how you can make a difference:
💲 Donate: Give online at westwoodfoodpantry.org or mail your gift to Westwood Food Pantry, P.O. Box 854, Westwood, MA 02090. Recurring monthly gifts are especially helpful!
🥫 Organize a Food Drive: Gather donations from your neighbors, community groups, and local organizations and drop them off at our Annual Town-Wide Food Drive on November 15 from 10 am -12 pm at the Thurston Middle School, or organize your own drive by contacting us at [email protected] to get started.
📣 Spread the Word: Share this post or talk with friends, teammates, and local groups about the growing need.
Together, we can make sure no one in Westwood goes hungry. ❤️
